There is something no one prepared me for.
Not healing.
Not awakening.
Not transformation.
The part no one talks about is what comes after.
What happens when you finally become the person you’ve been working so hard to become?
For years, my life revolved around becoming.
Becoming stronger.
Becoming wiser.
Becoming financially stable.
Becoming emotionally healthy.
Becoming spiritually aware.
Every chapter seemed to point toward another lesson.
Another obstacle.
Another version of myself waiting on the other side.
I was always reaching.
Always climbing.
Always becoming.
And then one day...
I realized something.
I wasn’t chasing her anymore.
I had caught up.
That realization landed quietly.
Not with fireworks.
Not with some dramatic life event.
It arrived through reflection.
Through reading years of journal entries.
Through recognizing patterns I couldn’t see while I was living them.
For the first time in years, I wasn’t asking,
“Who am I becoming?”
I was asking something entirely different.
“Now what?”
That question surprised me.
Because I had spent so much of my life preparing for the future...
that I never practiced living in the present.
I knew how to survive.
I knew how to rebuild.
I knew how to pivot.
I knew how to reinvent myself.
But enjoyment?
Presence?
Contentment?
Those were newer experiences.
I realized something else.
When you’ve lived in survival mode long enough...
your brain keeps searching for the next assignment.
The next problem.
The next mountain.
The next thing to overcome.
Because overcoming became your identity.
But maybe...
it doesn’t have to be anymore.
Maybe this season isn’t asking me to overcome anything.
Maybe it’s inviting me to experience life.
To laugh more.
To travel because I want to.
To drink coffee without rushing.
To watch sunsets without thinking about tomorrow.
To enjoy my dogs.
To call friends.
To create because I love creating.
Not because I’m trying to prove anything.
For years I thought joy would arrive after achievement.
Now I’m beginning to understand...
joy is something we practice.
It’s not a reward.
It’s a way of living.
And maybe...
that’s exactly what this chapter is.
Not another lesson.
Not another test.
Just...
life.
With grace,
Natalie
