For years...
I lived with one question.
“When will my new life begin?”
It followed me through cities.
Through jobs.
Through relationships.
Through disappointments.
Through healing.
Even through hope.
It became the question that quietly lived underneath almost everything I did.
I wasn’t unhappy because I lacked gratitude.
I was hopeful because I knew there was more.
I could feel it.
I just couldn’t see it.
And when you spend enough time believing something bigger is coming...
it’s easy to accidentally postpone living until it arrives.
I didn’t realize I was doing that.
I wasn’t waiting on purpose.
I was waiting because I genuinely believed there would be a moment when everything would finally click into place.
A finish line.
A doorway.
A sign.
Something unmistakable.
But yesterday...
while reflecting over years of journals...
something shifted.
I caught myself saying,
“The stress nowadays is about when my new life will start... not if my new life will start.”
And then I stopped.
Because even that question had changed.
I wasn’t sure life would change.
Today...
I have no doubt it will.
That’s growth.
But another realization followed immediately afterward.
What if...
my new life has already started?
What if I just kept expecting it to look dramatic?
Maybe I thought transformation would arrive with fireworks.
Instead...
it arrived through awareness.
Through peace.
Through consistency.
Through becoming someone I actually enjoy being.
Life didn’t suddenly change overnight.
I did.
And because I changed...
the way I experience life changed too.
I still have goals.
I still have dreams.
I still want adventure.
Travel.
Love.
Business growth.
Financial abundance.
Those things still matter.
But they are no longer prerequisites for living.
They’re additions.
Not conditions.
That realization feels incredibly freeing.
Because it means I don’t have to postpone joy until the next chapter.
I don’t have to wait until the perfect opportunity.
The perfect relationship.
The perfect income.
The perfect city.
I can live now.
Not because everything is finished...
but because life has already begun.
Maybe that’s what healing eventually teaches us.
Not how to wait better.
But how to stop waiting altogether.
With grace,
Natalie
