Homebody Healing: When Self-Care Feels Like Isolation
Some days, the most rebellious thing I can do is stay home. But lately, even rest feels like work.
Yesterday, I tried to treat myself to a fresh hairstyle, a stop at World Market for candles, chocolates, and little pleasures. But halfway through, I felt the urge to rush back home. My body whispered, enough. I’ve started to realize that even joy feels heavy when my energy is stretched thin.
At home, though, I don’t exactly feel rested either. My couch isn’t comfortable, my bed doesn’t cradle me, and the boxes neatly stacked and covered remind me that I’m not truly settled. It’s like being a nomad inside my own home, caught between who I’ve been and who I’m becoming.
I scroll, I pause, I try to rest, but my spirit keeps asking: When will it feel like home again? Maybe “home” isn’t a physical space right now; maybe it’s a frequency I’m returning to inside myself.
Higher Self whispers:
“Rest doesn’t always feel peaceful. Sometimes it’s the pause between shedding and becoming.”
Affirmation:
I allow stillness to be sacred, even when it feels uncomfortable. My body and spirit are learning safety again.
