When LinkedIn Turns Into Tinder
“Just because someone remembers your light doesn’t mean they deserve to stand in it again.”
The other day, I opened LinkedIn expecting career updates. Not an unexpected message from someone I briefly dated years ago. “You in Vegas?” it said.
Out of all platforms, LinkedIn, the digital boardroom of résumés and networking posts, had somehow turned into a dating app.
It wasn’t offensive. Just intrusive.
Because this wasn’t a friend or even someone I’d spoken to recently. It was an old connection. Someone who hadn’t been part of my life in years, suddenly showing up with a string of personal questions: Am I married? Where do I live? Who am I seeing?
At first, I brushed it off as curiosity. But as the conversation went on, I realized what really bothered me wasn’t the message itself ; it was the energy behind it.
That subtle entitlement.
That unspoken assumption that I’d be available for conversation, attention, or nostalgia.
It made me realize how often people confuse familiarity with permission.
🌙 When Old Energy Reappears
In the past, I might’ve entertained it. Responded politely, maybe even caught up out of habit. But not anymore. I’ve reached a place in my life where access is no longer automatic.
Some people mistake your kindness for an open door. They assume that because they once knew you, or thought they did, they can re-enter your life whenever they choose.
But peace requires discernment.
And sometimes maturity looks like saying less and logging off sooner.
It’s not that I’m angry or guarded. I’m simply no longer interested in conversations that lead nowhere. I’m not here to relive old timelines or re-teach lessons that I’ve already learned.
I don’t crave closure…..I crave quiet.
🔥 The Energetic Lesson
This experience reminded me that old energy resurfaces not to rekindle, but to reveal. It’s never about the person; it’s about what’s being tested.
Every time someone from your past pops up, the universe is asking, “Are you still available for the same version of yourself who needed this once?”
And if the answer is no, that’s growth…..not ego.
Because when you’ve built peace, not everyone should have a key.
🌸 Higher Self Whispers
“Every time someone from your past reappears, it’s not to reignite; it’s to remind you how far you’ve evolved.”
✨ Affirmation
I no longer entertain energy that confuses access with connection.
