✨ SOUL WEALTH CHRONICLES ISSUE 84
A Rested Black Woman
There was a time…
when I believed exhaustion was part of the process.
That if I was tired… overwhelmed… constantly thinking…
it meant I was doing something right.
That I was working hard enough.
Trying hard enough.
Holding everything together the way I was supposed to.
But what I didn’t realize then…
was how much of that came from survival.
Always moving.
Always thinking.
Always carrying.
And over time…
that takes a toll.
Not just physically.
But mentally.
Emotionally.
Energetically.
So I slowed down.
Not all at once.
Not perfectly.
But intentionally.
I started releasing what wasn’t mine to carry.
I stopped forcing outcomes that didn’t feel aligned.
I began choosing peace…
even when it meant choosing differently.
And something shifted.
My mind got quieter.
My body felt lighter.
My decisions became clearer.
Not because everything around me changed…
but because I did.
I became a rested woman.
And as a Black woman…
that shift means something deeper.
Because we are often taught to carry more.
To do more.
To be more.
To hold more.
Without pause.
Without rest.
Without question.
We become everything for everyone else…
and somewhere along the way, forget ourselves.
But I remembered.
I returned to myself.
And now…
I move differently.
I don’t force.
I don’t chase.
I don’t overextend.
I decide.
I act.
And I trust.
From a place of rest.
Because rest didn’t slow me down.
It refined me.
It sharpened my awareness.
It strengthened my boundaries.
It aligned my actions with who I actually am.
And now…
what I do carries more intention.
More presence.
More power.
Not because I’m doing more.
But because I’m doing it from a place that is grounded, clear, and fully mine.
✨ Closing Reflection
Rest is not separate from your power.
It is the source of it.
With grace,
Natalie
