SOUL WEALTH REBIRTH CHRONICLES ISSUE 99
I Am Not the System
Featured Quote
“At some point, strength is no longer measured by what you can carry. It is measured by what you no longer agree to carry.”
There are moments in life when something becomes so clear that you can never return to seeing it the way you once did.
Today was one of those moments.
What happened this morning at work was frustrating, unnecessary, and honestly disappointing. But underneath the frustration was something much bigger than a difficult interaction or a stressful day.
It was clarity.
Not the kind that arrives wrapped in certainty and confidence. The kind that arrives after you’ve been carrying something for so long that your body, mind, and spirit finally decide they can no longer hold it.
And perhaps that’s why this realization felt different.
Because it wasn’t new.
It was simply time.
For years, I have found myself in a familiar cycle.
I arrive.
I assess.
I stabilize.
I organize.
I improve.
I create order where there is dysfunction.
Whether it was healthcare, biotech, leadership, operations, or project work, the pattern remained remarkably consistent. I could see what was broken. I could see what needed to happen. I could often create solutions before others even recognized the problem.
And for a long time, I believed that was my purpose.
To fix.
To hold.
To carry.
To stabilize.
To save.
But today revealed something important.
Fixing a problem is one thing.
Living inside the politics of the problem is another.
And I no longer want the second part.
This morning, one of my direct reports was treated in a way that was dismissive, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary. As I watched the situation unfold, I felt something inside me separate from the environment around me.
Not because I was surprised.
Not because it was the first time I had witnessed dysfunction.
But because I suddenly realized I no longer wanted to participate in the cycle.
I no longer wanted to spend my energy managing environments that normalize poor behavior and then expect leadership to absorb the consequences.
That is not leadership.
That is containment.
And I am no longer interested in being a container for dysfunction.
That realization landed hard.
Not because it was painful.
Because it was true.
The deeper truth was even more revealing.
I am not a fixer.
I am an advisor.
The difference matters.
Fixers become trapped.
They become responsible for everything.
They become the solution people rely on while simultaneously resisting the changes required to solve the problem.
Fixers often inherit burdens that were never theirs to carry.
Advisors are different.
Advisors observe.
Advisors assess.
Advisors create strategy.
Advisors illuminate what is hidden.
Advisors help identify the path forward.
And then they release ownership of what was never theirs to maintain.
Perhaps that is why so many traditional leadership positions eventually leave me feeling restless.
It isn’t because I cannot do them.
It’s because I was never meant to stay there.
I was never meant to spend decades maintaining systems.
I was meant to help transform them.
There is a difference.
And today, I finally understood it.
Looking back, I can see the pattern everywhere.
I have often been brought into environments during periods of transition, instability, or growth.
I helped.
I contributed.
I stabilized.
And then I felt stuck.
Not because I lacked ambition.
But because the work was complete.
My soul was simply ready to move.
Yet I kept interpreting that feeling as dissatisfaction.
Today I see it differently.
It wasn’t dissatisfaction.
It was misalignment.
I was asking myself to remain in spaces that no longer required the gifts I came to provide.
No wonder I felt exhausted.
No wonder I felt restless.
No wonder my spirit kept searching for something more.
Even my body seemed to understand before my mind did.
This morning brought a literal release.
Unexpected.
Unplanned.
Unmistakable.
In hindsight, it feels symbolic.
As if my body was helping me let go of something my spirit had already outgrown.
Because that is exactly what today felt like.
A release.
Not dramatic.
Not perfect.
But necessary.
I’ve also been paying attention to the larger themes surrounding this season of my life.
The astrology.
The reflections.
The recurring messages.
Again and again, they have pointed toward the same lesson:
Not everything is yours to carry.
Not everything is yours to save.
Not everything is yours to fix.
And perhaps that is the most important realization of all.
I am not here to prove my value through depletion.
I am not here to sacrifice my peace in exchange for belonging.
I am not here to continuously over-function so that broken systems can remain comfortable.
That version of strength no longer interests me.
Because true strength is evolving.
It is no longer:
“Look at how much I can carry.”
It is becoming:
“Watch what I no longer agree to carry.”
That feels different.
That feels honest.
That feels free.
I don’t know exactly what comes next.
I don’t know what city, role, opportunity, or chapter is waiting ahead.
But I do know this:
I am no longer willing to build a life around constant compensation for what others refuse to address.
I want my life back.
Not just my evenings.
Not just my weekends.
Not just my energy.
My life.
The version that includes peace.
Purpose.
Creativity.
Freedom.
Alignment.
And room to become whoever I am still growing into.
That life feels closer than it ever has before.
Not because anything external changed today.
But because something inside me did.
And maybe that is how transformation always begins.
Not when the system changes.
But when we finally stop believing we have to become the system in order to survive it.
Because the truth is simple.
I do not have to normalize what my spirit has already rejected.
I do not have to stay where I have already outgrown.
And most importantly...
I am not the system.
With grace,
Natalie
