Once I recognized that my life had stabilized, another realization followed.
I had spent so much time waiting for something to happen...
because quiet made me think something was missing.
That’s different from simply not recognizing peace.
This was about what I did after things became peaceful.
I kept looking beyond what was already in front of me.
What’s next?
Where am I going?
When is the opportunity coming?
When will I move?
When will the business grow?
When will love show up?
When will the next chapter finally begin?
I wasn’t necessarily unhappy.
I was scanning.
Looking toward the horizon.
Waiting for evidence.
And recently I admitted something about myself:
Sometimes I look past what’s directly in front of me because I’m looking farther out.
Whew.
There it is.
When You Spend Years Looking Ahead
Looking ahead helped me survive.
There were seasons when believing something better existed beyond my current circumstances was necessary.
Hope kept me moving.
Vision kept me from settling.
Imagination reminded me that the chapter I was living wasn’t the whole story.
There’s nothing wrong with that.
But eventually...
you have to come back to the present.
Because if you’re always searching the horizon...
you can miss the life you’ve already created.
That’s what I was doing.
I was so focused on seeing the next door open that I wasn’t fully noticing where I was standing.
The Life I Once Wanted Was Already Showing Up
This is where looking through my old journals became powerful.
Because earlier versions of me wanted stability.
They wanted enough money to breathe.
They wanted creative freedom.
They wanted their own voice.
They wanted to build something meaningful.
They wanted peace.
And now?
I’m writing consistently.
My podcast is consistent.
Soul Wealth Rebirth™ exists.
I’m building something that belongs to me.
I’m financially more stable.
I’m making decisions differently.
I’m not constantly operating from fear.
Yet somehow...
I was still saying:
“When does my life start?”
Girl.
Some of it already did.
😂
Quiet Doesn’t Mean Empty
Maybe that’s the distinction I needed.
Quiet and empty aren’t the same thing.
Stillness and stagnation aren’t the same thing.
Peace and lack of purpose aren’t the same thing.
Something doesn’t have to be dramatic to be meaningful.
My life isn’t empty.
It’s spacious.
And there’s a difference.
Space allows creativity.
Space allows discernment.
Space allows rest.
Space allows you to choose what comes next instead of grabbing whatever appears because you desperately need something to change.
That last part matters.
Because the woman I am today doesn’t have to take every door simply because it opens.
I can ask:
Does this actually fit me?
Do I want this?
Does this support the life I’m building?
Am I moving toward something...
or simply moving because I don’t know what to do with stillness?
Those are very different questions than I would have asked years ago.
I Still Want Something to Pop Out of Thin Air
Let’s also be clear.
Growth has not made me completely serious.
😂
I would still LOVE for something exciting to pop out of thin air.
A beautiful opportunity.
An unexpected invitation.
A trip.
A collaboration.
A pleasant surprise.
Something that makes me say:
“WAIT. WHAT?!”
Because after all this peace...
Momma would like some fun.
But now I can distinguish between wanting excitement...
and believing I need an external event to prove my life is moving.
I don’t.
That’s the difference.
Maybe Nothing Is Missing
Maybe this chapter isn’t empty space between the old life and the new one.
Maybe this is part of the new life.
The quieter part.
The part where I learn who I am without constant disruption.
The part where I build.
Create.
Rest.
Observe.
Choose.
The part where I stop interpreting silence as abandonment.
The part where I stop assuming nothing is happening simply because I can’t see the next development yet.
Something will happen.
Doors will open.
Life will move.
It always does.
But I don’t need to stare at the door waiting for the handle to turn.
I can live while I wait.
Actually...
maybe I don’t even have to call it waiting anymore.
Maybe I’m simply living.
And when the next thing arrives...
I’ll meet it there.
With grace,
Natalie
