There was a moment last night that I almost overlooked.
I attended a live podcast interview. I hadn’t been in one of those spaces in a while. Life has been full, and honestly, some of the recent topics didn’t resonate with me.
But this one caught my attention.
The guest was a well-known author whose life story became a film years ago. He has written multiple books, directed documentaries, and built his own publishing company. It was one of those moments where you pause and think, “Okay… this is real.”
So I tuned in.
Not because I was looking for an opportunity.
Not because I was trying to insert myself into anything.
Just… to observe.
The interview itself was what I expected.
Familiar structure.
A few emotional moments.
Some parts that felt a little awkward.
Nothing that made me feel like I needed to jump in or chase anything afterward.
But something else happened.
Something quieter.
I found myself thinking about time.
He is now in his 60s.
The movie that told his story came out decades ago.
Which means he was in his 30s when that chapter of his life became visible to the world.
And yet… his story didn’t end there.
It evolved.
Expanded.
Deepened.
And that’s when it hit me.
We’ve been conditioned to believe that there is a right time to begin.
A moment where everything should already be in place.
A timeline we’re supposed to follow.
And if we don’t meet it?
We tell ourselves we’re late.
But what if we’re not late at all?
What if we’re just now becoming aware?
Awareness changes everything.
Before awareness, we move through life reacting.
Taking opportunities that don’t quite fit.
Overextending ourselves.
Trying to make things work that were never aligned.
Before awareness, we may even be building something…
But not ours.
There comes a moment, though, when something shifts.
You start to see more clearly:
What fits
What doesn’t
What you actually want
What you’re no longer willing to carry
You stop forcing.
You stop chasing.
You start observing.
And from the outside, it can look like you’ve slowed down.
But internally?
You’ve aligned.
Last night wasn’t about the interview.
It was a mirror.
Not in the sense of “I want what he has.”
But in the realization that:
stories become platforms
platforms become legacy
and legacy takes time to unfold
There is no rush.
And then, this morning…
A memory surfaced.
Seven years ago.
April 17, 2019.
Seattle.
A version of me who was stepping into something new.
Who didn’t have all the answers.
Who didn’t know how things would unfold.
But who still chose to move forward anyway.
The message I shared that day was simple:
Everything will work out in the end.
You don’t need to know how.
You just have to trust that it will.
And underneath it, I wrote one word:
Faith.
At the time, that faith was quiet.
Unproven.
Unaware of everything that would come after.
Because life did what life does.
It added layers.
Experience.
Disappointment.
Redirection.
Growth.
But those layers didn’t take anything away.
They revealed something.
I’m not starting late.
I’m starting aware.
Aware of what fits.
Aware of what doesn’t.
Aware of what I’m no longer willing to carry.
Aware of the life I actually want to build.
And that awareness?
It changes how I move.
I don’t rush.
I don’t force.
I don’t chase timelines that were never mine to begin with.
I build from clarity now.
And that changes everything.
There was a version of me who trusted without knowing.
Who stepped into new spaces without needing every answer.
Who believed, simply because something inside said to move.
And over time, life added layers.
Not to take that trust away…
But to deepen it.
Because the truth is:
Faith never left.
It just matured.
And now, I don’t need to rush.
I don’t need to force outcomes.
I don’t need to have everything figured out.
I trust differently now.
Not blindly.
But knowingly.
And that changes everything.
With grace,
Natalie
